We are fully convinced that the Christian life is not sustainable by just a single service, once a week. It is a life that continually beckons for a community – a group a people whose lives work together like a single human body made of many parts. We love our times together on Sunday, yet we are constantly striving to pursue Jesus together in different ways throughout the entire week. All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me.   Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you.  And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age. – Matthew 28:16-20

Pre-Service Prayer

Each Sunday morning at 8:45 a.m., people gather together for an integral time of seeking God and His grace for the service that is about to take place. We pray that God would open the hearts and ears of the congregation and that He would cause His children to praise and rejoice in Him.

Sunday School

Each Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m., we have the opportunity to pray and dive into the Word of God in a small-group context – offering something for all ages.

Adult Classes

Currently, there are two different adult classes – The Gospel at Work and Hermeneutics Toolbox.  These classes dive deep into God’s Word for practical living.

Children’s Classes

For children and teens, we utilize a curriculum on Sundays mornings called The Gospel Project. This curriculum identifies how the gospel is the main theme throughout the whole of the Bible.

Nursery

We have childcare provided in the nursery for children under the age of 4. Nursery is open during Sunday school, morning worship and also the evening service.

Main Worship Service

Each Sunday morning at 10:30 a.m., the whole church joins together for worship. This is our main gathering where we sing in worship, pray as an assembly, read from God’s Word, and listen to the preaching of His truth. In this main worship service, we commemorate the ordinances of baptism and communion as directed in Scripture.

And all who believed were together and had all things in common. And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, praising God and having favor with all the people. Acts 2:44-47

Corporate Prayer Opportunities

Sunday Evenings

At 6:00 p.m. every Sunday evening, we gather together to sing, study the Word and pray.  We also provide an opportunity for children to grow in God’s Truth in a child-friendly format.

Mid-Week Fellowship

Prayer groups gather in various homes during the week for prayer and fellowship. Our desire is to encourage an atmosphere of accountability, spiritual growth, exhortation, and unity among one another.

Men’s Discipleship

Each week, men meet together to discuss what God is teaching them and to also encourage each other in every area of their lives. We encourage regular attenders and church members to join in these groups.

Battle for Purity

There are many opportunities for men to meet one on one with other men in the church and battle for purity. In a culture where sexual promiscuity, spiritual lethargy, and even covetousness seem to be applauded, how do we as men lead in our communities, love our wives and disciple our children for the glory of God in Heaven? This is a one year commitment to pray for one another, memorize 25 passages of Scripture, and grow in repentance.

Men’s Morning Prayer

Every Friday morning, men gather at Big Apple Bagel in Holland for coffee and prayer. This is a meeting that has been a blessing to many men who discuss theology and also hold each other accountable in purity. This early morning group begins between 5:30-6:00 a.m. and goes to 7:00.

Men’s Training Grounds

The men’s Training Grounds course is a year-long class taught by Pastor Timothy to encourage and to train disciples of Jesus to be disciple-making disciples within our church, our local community and the world. Because Ventura Baptist Church is a training grounds for men and women, we strive to grow in our study of the Scriptures – diving deeper into understanding God’s glory and His mission for the church. This particular class, geared specifically to men, touches on various areas of discipleship training which includes hermeneutics, church history, systematic theology, counseling and ecclesiology. Through prayer times together, mutual encouragement in our daily lives and in the study of God’s Truth, we discover how God’s Truth and the gospel of Jesus transforms us.

But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion for them, because they were weary and scattered, like sheep having no shepherd. Then He said to His disciples, “The harvest truly is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest.” – Matthew 9:36-38

Women’s Discipleship

Each week, women meet together to discuss what God is teaching them and to also encourage each other in every area of their lives. We encourage regular attenders and church members to join in these groups.

Women In Touch

Every other Thursday night, women gather together for accountability and prayer. WiT takes place in one of our church member’s homes, and it is a time where women can fellowship and pray for specific family members and loved ones. For more information, please use our contact form or e-mail us at mail@venturabaptistchurch.com.

Ladies’ Bible Study

We offer a variety of classes for women to gather together, focus on the Word and pursue Jesus.  Classes are offered on Tuesday nights and Wednesday mornings every other week September through April.  Please feel free to contact us for more information.  We would love to have you join us!

But Jesus called them to him, saying, “Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of God. Truly, I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it.
– Luke 18:16-17

Children’s Discipleship

As a part of our mission to pursue Jesus together, we encourage children to hear and learn about the Word of God with the church family in various contexts. Our goal is to promote a Christ-centered theology, cross-generational integration and parental discipleship. We seek to help children see the glories of the greatness and goodness of our God.

Children’s Sunday School

For children and teens, we utilize a curriculum on Sundays mornings called The Gospel Project. This curriculum identifies how the gospel is the main theme throughout the whole of the Bible.

Sunday Night Kid’s Time

On three Sunday evenings each month, the pre-school through elementary-age children participate in our Kid’s Time. Each month, they learn the main point of one book of the Bible, memorize a passage of Scripture and then are taught about global missions. We hope children begin to see that they need to study the Word, meditate on the Word and then seek to share his Word with the world.

Training Grounds

Once a year, we have a focused time together with children in order to teach and challenge them to grow as disciples of Jesus. Through activities, spending time together and focusing on the practical application of the Bible, children see the amazing nature of God’s Word and the love of a church family working together to see children love Jesus.
