Scripture Text: Hebrews 3:7-19

The Jews of the Old Testament hardened their heart toward God and as a result did not enter the Promised Land. Hardness of heart starts with unbelief and distrust in God and his promises. It leads to negativism, grumbling, quarreling and disobedient actions. The writer of Hebrews challenges believers in the church to battle against this tendency and to not drift away from truth.

Do not harden your heart.

1. Those who harden their hearts do not enter God’s rest (vv. 7-12).
2. Your experience does not replace faith (vv. 15-19).
3. Application: The local church must persevere in the faith together. We are commanded to exhort others, not wait for others to exhort us (vv. 13-14).
