Scripture Text: Hebrews 9:15-28
Because Jesus gives us a purified conscience and gospel-motivated obedience, Jesus is the mediator of the New Covenant. The old covenant Law can’t touch us. Jesus, by his blood writes over us “Forgiven,” but he also says, “Just wait for all that’s in store for you. I’m coming again!” As the mediator, he fulfills God’s covenant promises of bringing us to God and God to us. And he also guarantees greater union in the future!
Jesus gives us absolute security and complete cleansing.
1. Jesus’ death supersedes the old covenant sacrifices.
2. Jesus’ mediation brings superior blessings and an inheritance.
