Scripture Text: Hebrews 4:1-10
What is rest? According to the Hebrews writer, rest is found only in the person and work of Jesus Christ. So often, we equate rest with the relief we find in physical circumstances, but godly rest is very different. Godly rest may actually lead us through toil and persecution like Hudson Taylor, but the end result is to dwell in His presence forever. In our coming redemption, we will find true rest.
We must have a Godly fear of our church family’s rest.
1. Someone doesn’t have God’s rest merely because they are with God’s people (vv. 2-5).
2. Sin keeps people from God’s rest (vv. 6-7).
3. God gives God’s rest to God’s people (vv. 8-10).
